Betsson Chooses Malaga for New Global Tech Hub to Drive Innovation and Growth

Betsson has confirmed it will establish a major new technology hub in Málaga, Spain, following a comprehensive evaluation of potential locations across Europe. The decision underscores the operator’s strategic focus on strengthening its in-house capabilities in gaming development, native mobile applications, and artificial intelligence.

Málaga emerged as the top choice due to its robust technology infrastructure, access to a highly skilled international workforce, and high quality of life — all of which align with Betsson’s long-term growth ambitions.

In a company statement, Jesper Svensson, CEO of Betsson Operations, said:

“Málaga represents an optimal environment for the company’s growth. Its dynamic atmosphere and accessibility reflect the same qualities that have supported our success in Malta.”

The new hub is intended to serve as a key driver of product innovation and digital excellence, supporting Betsson’s goal of delivering cutting-edge player experiences across its brands and markets.

Recruitment has already begun, with the company seeking to hire a wide range of tech professionals including backend and frontend developers, QA engineers, and specialists in AI and machine learning. The primary technology stack will include .NET for backend systems and Kotlin and Swift for native mobile development.

Svensson also reiterated Betsson’s broader commitment to expanding its technical organisation in strategic locations:

“This move is part of our ongoing investment in talent and technology to maintain a leadership position in product development and user experience.”

The Málaga office is expected to become a central pillar of Betsson’s global tech operations, enhancing its ability to scale new digital products and respond rapidly to emerging trends across regulated markets.
