Maine Casinos Report $15.6m in Gambling Revenue for July

Maine’s two licensed commercial casinos recorded a collective $15.6m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for July, representing a recovery from previous seasonal declines.

The state’s gaming properties—Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway in Bangor and Oxford Casino Hotel in Oxford—benefited from increased summer tourist footfall, which boosted performance across both slot machines and table games.

Venue Performance and Vertical Split

Oxford Casino led the market in revenue generation, maintaining its historical position as the state's top-performing casino property due to its closer proximity to the Portland metropolitan area and southern tourist corridors.

Slot machines remained the dominant earnings driver across both facilities, accounting for the vast majority of overall GGR, while table games and property-level sports betting provided secondary revenue streams.

State Tax Allocation and Public Funds

Under Maine gaming regulations, a significant portion of casino revenue is taxed and redistributed into public funds.

Tax receipts generated from July's $15.6m performance were allocated toward state-mandated programs, including:

• K-12 Education: Funding routed directly to the Maine Department of Education.

• Agricultural Support: Allocations sent to the Sire Stakes Fund and local agricultural fairs.

• Veterans & Tribal Funds: Dedicated distributions for military veterans' assistance programs and host community municipality funds.
