Ontario iGaming Sets Record CAD9.88bn Handle In July
Ontario’s regulated iGaming market reached new monthly records in July, with wagering, active player accounts and online casino revenue all increasing year-on-year.

Ontario’s regulated iGaming market set new monthly records in July 2026, as players wagered CAD9.88bn (US$7.1bn) during the 31-day period.
According to iGaming Ontario (iGO), the figure was almost CAD300m higher than the previous record of CAD9.59bn, set in March.
July’s handle was also 31% higher year-on-year and represented the highest monthly wagering total since Ontario launched its regulated iGaming market in April 2022.
Operators generated CAD413.6m (US$297.1m) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) during the month. This was the second-highest monthly total on record, behind the CAD426m recorded in December 2025, and represented a 33% year-on-year increase.
Tax Revenue And Active Accounts
Ontario’s 20% tax rate on operator revenue generated approximately CAD83m in tax revenue for the province in July.
During the first seven months of 2026, Ontario collected around CAD553m in tax revenue from CAD2.76bn in total non-adjusted GGR.
Monthly active player accounts also reached a new record, approaching 1.37 million.
That represented a 44% increase year-on-year from the 948,000 active accounts recorded in July 2025, while the figure was 3.5% higher than June 2026.
Ontario’s commercial iGaming market had 48 licensed operators across 83 sites during July.
The month also saw two major brands enter the market. DAZN Bet launched in Ontario on 30 June, followed by Hard Rock Bet, which launched its sportsbook and casino in the province on 22 July.
Despite the rise in active accounts, average revenue per account fell 7.6% year-on-year to CAD303, its lowest level since February 2026, when it stood at CAD262.
Online Casino Leads Market
Online casino remained the largest segment of Ontario’s iGaming market, accounting for the majority of both wagering and revenue.
iCasino wagers reached a record CAD8.78bn, up 30% year-on-year and above the previous high of CAD8.37bn recorded in May.
Casino wagering represented 89% of total handle in July.
Online casino GGR also reached a record CAD330.4m, an increase of 31% year-on-year and above the previous record set in May.
Casino revenue accounted for 80% of total GGR during the month.
Sports Betting Activity
Sports betting generated CAD992m in wagers, falling below the CAD1bn mark during the typical summer slowdown.
However, wagering was still 44% higher than July 2025, when there was no FIFA World Cup action.
June’s stronger sports betting activity was likely supported by the early stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including Canada’s first four matches.
Canada exited the tournament after a 3-0 defeat to Morocco in the round of 16 on 4 July.
Sports betting GGR reached CAD77.8m, up 47% year-on-year, although this was the lowest monthly level since March 2026.
Sports wagering accounted for 10% of total handle and 19% of operators’ GGR.
Poker Remains Small Segment
Peer-to-peer poker continued to represent a small proportion of Ontario’s regulated iGaming market, accounting for around 1% of total handle and GGR.
Both poker wagering and revenue declined by more than 10% year-on-year.
iGO’s figures do not include activity on the government-owned Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) platform, which reports its results separately on an annual basis.
