GamCare Announces End of Safer Gambling Standard Services
Following an internal review in December 2023, GamCare’s Board decided to transition the Safer Gambling Standard to a new external host, separate from the charity.

GamCare has announced that its Safer Gambling Standard services will conclude by the end of this year.
Launched in 2019, the UKAS-accredited certification has operated as an independent quality benchmark to assess the dedication and effectiveness of gambling companies in protecting people from gambling harm.
Following an internal review in December 2023, GamCare’s Board decided to transition the Safer Gambling Standard to a new external host, separate from the charity.
However, despite several discussions, no suitable organization has been identified to take on this responsibility, leading GamCare to fully suspend the Safer Gambling Standard.
GamCare affirmed its ongoing commitment to reducing gambling harm, with all other services remaining active into the new year, including its 24/7 National Gambling Helpline.
“Our core focus at GamCare will continue to be the provision of high-quality, accessible support to the thousands of people who come through our services each year, both those who are struggling with gambling directly as well as those who are affected by someone else’s gambling,” the organization concluded.
