FanDuel Launches Trusted Voices Responsible Gambling Initiative

September marks Responsible Gaming Education Month, and FanDuel, the leading online gaming company in North America, has announced a new partnership with former NBA player and coach Randy Livingston, along with his wife, sports agent Anita Smith, to introduce the program Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting. This initiative and resource hub aims to equip trusted adults—such as parents, guardians, and coaches—with tools to discuss gambling, the associated risks, warning signs, and avenues for support with young people.

In the Trusted Voices video series, Livingston recounts his journey as a five-star basketball talent who played in the NBA while battling problem gambling. He shares his personal story of early exposure to gambling, hitting rock bottom, and his path to recovery with the support of his wife, Anita. Together, they hope their story will help others and raise awareness about the dangers of gambling, the importance of early family conversations, and the responsibility of adults to model healthy behaviors.

The program was developed in consultation with EPIC Global Solutions and provides content that addresses issues like proxy betting and the importance of not allowing access to sports betting platforms for those under 21. The resources can be found at ConversationsAboutBetting.com, with more content planned for release.

"As legal sports betting becomes more accessible, I wanted to use my experience to help families engage in proactive conversations about gambling," said Livingston. "FanDuel shares our goal of helping parents navigate these tough discussions."

Alongside Trusted Voices, FanDuel is expanding its partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health, offering nationwide access to mental health services for individuals who self-exclude from FanDuel platforms. The initiative provides direct access to telehealth services with specialized gambling treatment providers.
