Online operator, Mr Green, has been issued an eye watering £3m fine for failing to adhere to customer wellbeing.

The penalty charge has been issued by the Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) for duty of care breaches and anti-money laundering (AML) breaches.

Regarding the Money Laundering and Gaming Responsibility Acts, Mr Green was considered to have “not taken sufficient measures to help customers reduce their gambling” and “failed in its work with customer knowledge” to adhere to money laundering risks.

The review that led to this penalty uncovered cases where 15 customers displayed problematic behaviours or AML criminal intent engaging. This was from the period of January 2019 to June 2020. One customer was permitted to continue gambling despite having spent “six times his reported salary”.
