Southampton FC has invested in mobile app, RecoverMe, which has been designed to support gambling addicts and aid recovery.
The app has been cerated by three junior doctors alongside psychiatrists, psychologists and real people dealing with gambling addictions. The technology focuses on using CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and intends to help make treatments more affordable and accessible.
Its aim is to have its users challenge their thought processes, access mindfulness sessions and reflect on their personal habits surrounding gambling.
The club’s investment in RecoverMe will be put towards reducing its cost to users and adding further features to the app.
RecoverMe's Co-founder, Minal Jain, said.
“We wholeheartedly believe RecoverMe will provide a lifeline to those suffering in silence"
“It has been incredible to see how motivated Southampton are in creating this meaningful change and we are extremely excited to be working with them to do this and we hope this is just the beginning.”
Chief Commercial Officer for Southampton FC, David Thomas, said that RecoverMe is aligned with the football club’s values towards gambling responsibly. Thrilled to be investing in the app, he said:
“I am delighted to announce the club’s support for RecoverMe"
“The club takes its responsibility to promoting responsible gambling extremely seriously and it is important that we are proactive in exploring new opportunities to implement our commitment to this cause.
“We’re proud to support the launch of the RecoverMe app and I am excited by the chance to work with an organisation so closely aligned to our values.”
