2020 Greyhound Grand National to go Ahead Thanks to New Betting Sponsorship

The 2020 Greyhound Grand National will go ahead after betting pools operator, Colossus Bet, was named as the race’s new title sponsor.

The 2020 Greyhound Grand National will go ahead after betting pools operator, Colossus Bet, was named as the race’s new title sponsor.

It was looking likely that the meeting was not going to go ahed, with the venue unable to afford hosting the event with no fans. However, a new five-figure sponsorship deal has been struck with Colossus Bet, ensuring the heats will get underway later this month. It has also been confirmed that the race winner will earn £7,500 in prize money.

Central Park will host the heats of the Colossus Bet 2020 Grand National on 25th October before the final is held two weeks later on 8th November.

After the new sponsorship deal was announced, Colossus Bet’s CEO, Bernard Marantelli, explained:

“I love greyhound racing - my family have been taking bets on it for 50 years - and I want to see it thrive. We’ve got a number of plans and hopes for the sport and this is the latest one. Hurdles racing can be fun and a real spectacle.”

Roger Cearns, Central Park promoter, added:

“It’s been an unprecedented year and the pressures on track owners are immense. We had actively sought a backer for the Grand National and we’re delighted Colossus Bets are back here after a successful Kent Silver Salver sponsorship.”
