Inside the Plans for ICE Barcelona 2027: iGaming News Joins Clarion Gaming for Media Partner Day
More ways to meet, an expanded show floor, tailored experiences for high-growth markets and a new 360-degree stage are among the developments planned as ICE prepares to return to Fira Gran Via Barcelona.

As a proud media partner, iGaming News was delighted to attend Clarion Gaming’s annual WorldGaming Media Partner Day at London’s Hippodrome Casino, where the team provided an early look at the next evolution of ICE and iGB Affiliate.
The focus was not simply on making WorldGaming Week bigger, but on making it easier to do business, strengthening its international communities and ensuring the event continues to deliver a positive impact for its host city.
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to shape the next evolution of ICE — creating more opportunities to do business, using our influence to drive positive impact, and building an even stronger community-led event for the global gaming industry,” said Margaret Dunn, Portfolio Director at Clarion Events.
Making 1.5 Million Meetings Easier
An estimated 1.5 million meetings take place during ICE, making one of Clarion’s most interesting announcements particularly relevant for attendees: MeetMe.
The new pass has been designed specifically around maximising time at the event, enabling delegates to search for relevant contacts, request meetings and schedule them before arriving in Barcelona.
Meetings will be supported by three dedicated Meeting Districts, while MeetMe pass holders will receive early access to MeetMe HQ in Hall 7 from 9:30am, alongside fast-track entry to the show.
The initiative is supported by an additional 2,000sq.m of dedicated meeting space, providing more room for the conversations and connections that form such a significant part of ICE.
That comes as the wider event continues to expand. The addition of Hall 7 will increase floor space by approximately 14%, with more than 800 exhibitors expected and WorldGaming Week already reported to be 98% sold out.
A More Personalised ICE for Global Markets
Another major theme was community.
Rather than approaching ICE’s increasingly international audience as one group, Clarion is developing more personalised experiences around several of the industry's important growth markets.
Latin America, Africa, Italy and Canada will receive dedicated attention through exclusive lounges, targeted content streams and tailored visitor journeys.
The ambition is to deepen engagement with these communities while attracting more operators from high-growth regions to Barcelona.
Initiatives including Casa Brazil and Casa Italia will form part of that approach, creating dedicated environments where delegates can connect around the opportunities, challenges and developments specific to those markets.
Bringing Industry Leaders Together to Tackle Bigger Issues
ICE 2027 will also introduce the WorldGaming Council, an invite-only forum designed to bring together regulators, law enforcement and operators.
Rather than another traditional conference programme, the Council is being positioned as an outcome-driven initiative focused on some of the industry's most significant challenges.
Its initial areas of focus will include reducing financial crime, tackling illegal gambling and improving player safety.
The initiative reflects a wider theme presented throughout the Media Partner Day: using ICE’s scale and convening power not only to bring the industry together commercially, but to create opportunities for collaboration around issues affecting the sector globally.
Working With Barcelona
That responsibility extends beyond the gaming industry itself.
Clarion also provided media partners with further insight into the work taking place with the Catalonian authorities and local stakeholders as an event of ICE's scale becomes increasingly embedded within Barcelona.
WorldGaming Week is estimated to contribute approximately €255 million to the local economy and generate more than 7,000 temporary employment opportunities.
With tens of thousands of international visitors arriving in the city, considerable work takes place behind the scenes to manage the event effectively.
The approach outlined during the day places an emphasis on ensuring that WorldGaming Week creates value for Barcelona alongside the commercial opportunities it provides for the global gaming industry, while establishing a sustainable long-term future for the event at Fira Gran Via.
iGB Affiliate Gets a 360-Degree Centrepiece
There is plenty changing at iGB Affiliate, too, as the event celebrates its 20th year.
One of the most visually significant additions will be a new 360-degree stage positioned at the centre of Hall 8.
The format will bring debates and discussions directly into the heart of the exhibition rather than separating content from the main show-floor experience, creating a new focal point for attendees.
iGB Affiliate is also continuing to expand the presence of leading affiliate businesses while increasing its focus on international growth markets, particularly Latin America and Africa.
The Countdown to Barcelona Begins
The Media Partner Day concluded with a tour of the Hippodrome Casino led by owner Simon Thomas, followed by a rooftop cocktail reception — a fantastic end to an insightful day with the Clarion Gaming team and fellow industry media partners.
A huge thank you to Clarion Gaming and the Hippodrome team for hosting us.
With ICE 2027 registration due to open shortly, the countdown to Barcelona is officially beginning.
As a proud media partner of ICE, iGaming News will be sharing further announcements, updates and practical information over the coming months, helping both attendees and exhibitors understand what is changing, what they can expect and how they can make the most of WorldGaming Week when the industry returns to Fira Gran Via Barcelona in January.
