William Hill Targets £500,000 MND Fundraising Milestone At Ripon
William Hill will donate profits from two races at Ripon this Saturday to the MND Association as its wider partnership approaches £500,000 in funds raised.

William Hill will continue its support for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association with a dedicated raceday at Ripon this Saturday, as fundraising through the partnership closes in on the £500,000 mark.
Ripon’s feature summer contest will be staged as the William Hill/MND Association Great St Wilfrid Handicap, one of five races on the card carrying co-branded support for the charity.
Profits generated from both the Great St Wilfrid Handicap and Silver Cup Handicap will be donated to the MND Association, building on an initiative that raised more than £30,000 at the corresponding meeting last year.
The fundraising forms part of a three-year partnership between William Hill parent company evoke and the MND Association, which has set an overall target of £1m.
Raceday To Honour Tamara And Rob Burrow
Saturday’s meeting will also continue to raise awareness of individuals affected by motor neurone disease.
The Racing For Tamara Ripon Hornblower EBF Novice Stakes will again be named in recognition of Tamara, a former William Hill colleague who is living with MND.
Bespoke number seven saddlecloths will also return in memory of Leeds Rhinos legend and MND Association patron Rob Burrow, whose campaigning following his diagnosis helped raise considerable awareness of the disease.
William Hill Closes In On £500,000 Raised
William Hill is hoping this year's meeting will take the amount raised through the partnership beyond £500,000, moving it more than halfway towards the wider £1m target.
Lee Phelps, head of broadcast and PR for William Hill, said: “We’re delighted to once again be giving MND Association the profits from both the Great St Wilfrid and the Silver Cup, as we look to soon pass the £500,000 mark for money raised for our partner charity. This would be a landmark achievement and is something the wider evoke business is very proud of.”
