Michigan’s online casino market maintained its strong upward trajectory in June, recording a 28 per cent year-on-year surge in revenue, even as digital sports betting experienced a seasonal downturn.

Figures published by the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) show that commercial and tribal operators generated $289.2m (£222.8m) in adjusted gross receipts from iGaming during the month. By contrast, adjusted sports wagering receipts slipped to $20.2m, representing a 33.9 per cent drop compared to the same period last year.

Month-on-month comparisons revealed a modest slowdown across both verticals, reflecting the traditional summer lull in the US sporting calendar. Adjusted iGaming receipts edged down by 1.5 per cent from May, while sports betting revenue dropped by 13.4 per cent.

Unadjusted Totals and Handle Trends

On a combined basis, operators posted $309.4m in total adjusted gross receipts for June.

Before promotional deductions and adjustments, unadjusted gross receipts across the Great Lakes State stood at $341.3m. This total was comprised of:

  • iGaming gross receipts: $301.2m

  • Online sports betting gross receipts: $40.1m

Players in Michigan placed $366.1m in online sports wagers throughout June, marking a 20 per cent contraction in betting handle compared to May’s total as major domestic leagues entered their off-seasons.

Fiscal Contributions

The state's digital gambling ecosystem generated significant tax revenues during the month.

Operators paid $60.8m in state taxes and municipal fees from online casino gaming, alongside $1.5m in contributions derived from online sports betting.

The online performance figures follow the MGCB’s recently published monthly revenue statement for Detroit’s three land-based commercial casinos, highlighting a broader market structure where digital channels continue to drive the lion's share of overall growth.
