DraftKings Enters New Frontier with Launch of Proprietary Prediction Market Exchange DKeX

The platform, announced on Friday, is fully operated in-house and licensed by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), positioning it within a regulated framework while allowing DraftKings to control the full exchange ecosystem.
DKeX is embedded directly into the DraftKings Sports & Casino app, enabling users to access prediction market functionality without leaving the company’s core digital environment. The move allows DraftKings to bypass third-party exchange fees by relying on proprietary technology developed and acquired by the business.
Jason Robins, CEO and co-founder of DraftKings, said the launch reflects the company’s broader ambition to reshape how customers engage with sports through more integrated digital products.
“DraftKings is at its best when building innovative platforms that bring together technology, customer focus, and world-class execution to shape the future of sports engagement,” Robins said.
“The momentum we’ve seen on DraftKings Predictions in recent months reflects the significant progress we’ve made in delivering a more seamless and connected experience for sports fans.”
The introduction of DKeX highlights the growing convergence between traditional sports betting platforms and prediction market-style products, as operators look to diversify offerings and strengthen user engagement through more sophisticated trading-style experiences.
By bringing the exchange function fully in-house, DraftKings is also signalling a strategic shift towards tighter control over infrastructure, costs, and product development in a rapidly evolving competitive landscape.
