Gordon Moody has officially opened its flagship treatment centre, Gordon Moody House, in Redditch, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in late November. The facility is dedicated to providing tailored residential programmes for individuals struggling with gambling-related harm.

As part of the opening event, David Hollingsworth, Lived Experience and Engagement Lead at Gordon Moody, chaired several alumni panels where former participants shared their experiences.

“Our Redditch opening was a fantastic two-day event that showcased Gordon Moody House and the pivotal role it will play in the future direction of travel for residential rehabilitation centres,” said Hollingsworth.

“Being able to chair an alumni panel comprised of people who had been in receipt of treatment across our various programmes during the last 53 years was a real privilege. It gave our guests an insight into life through the years at Gordon Moody and we heard how important surroundings are as a platform for recovery. It is an exciting time for all Gordon Moody colleagues, and it feels great to be a part of this latest chapter in our long history,” he added.

The event was also attended by former English professional footballer Steve Bull, who lent his support to the milestone occasion.

In 2023/24, Gordon Moody received 971 applications for treatment, averaging 19 per week, with 198 individuals attending residential-style programmes.

Monica Shafaq, CEO of Gordon Moody, highlighted the significance of the new facility:

“The opening of Gordon Moody House marks a significant milestone in our mission to support those most affected by gambling harm. This flagship treatment centre represents our commitment to providing innovative, inclusive, and life-changing support for individuals in need.

“It embodies our vision to be at the forefront of tackling gambling addiction, offering a safe and supportive environment where recovery can truly begin. This centre is not just a building; it is a beacon of hope for those seeking a brighter future, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved together as a team.”
