GamCare Research Suggests Rise in Problematic Slot Players
According to Colin Walsh, Lived Experience Manager at GamCare, a significant obstacle for many people seeking assistance these days is playing online slots.

Three out of five (60%) of individuals who reported having trouble with online gambling in 2022–2023 mentioned playing online slots as one of their biggest obstacles. In comparison to the 34% recorded between 2018 and 2019, this represents a notable rise.
The data also shows that in the previous year, 73% of all callers to the National gaming Helpline reported having problems related to internet gaming.
This report is based on 5,660 callers to the National gaming Helpline who identified the kind of gaming that caused them problems; of these, 4,154 mentioned problems with internet gambling.

GamCare offers assistance to people who have been impacted by gaming. Over 44,000 contacts are made to the National Gambling Helpline through phone, live chat, and WhatsApp each year by the charity, which runs the service around-the-clock.
