Brazil Orders 14 Licensed Betting Sites To Suspend Operations
The SPA has taken precautionary action following breaches involving responsible gaming controls and its Sigap betting management system.
Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) has ordered 14 licensed betting websites to temporarily suspend operations following an investigation into regulatory compliance failures.
The measures were issued on 14 August after an investigation dating back to August 2025 and relate to breaches involving the Betting Management System (Sigap) and responsible gaming controls.
Seven precautionary measures have been imposed as part of the SPA’s supervisory and sanctioning responsibilities, with five relating to failures involving Sigap and two concerning responsible gaming evaluation and monitoring systems.
Operators Restricted To Processing Withdrawals
The affected operators have been instructed to temporarily deactivate relevant equipment and systems and return issued tickets.
While the suspensions remain in place, the affected websites can remain accessible exclusively to allow customers to withdraw funds held in their accounts.
The action covers three domains operated by Zeroumbet Digital Platform, one operated by Enseada Serviços e Tecnologia and three websites belonging to Select Operations.
One Nexus International website and three domains operated by RR Participações e Intermediações de Negócios are also among those affected by the SPA measures.
SPA Steps Up Regulatory Enforcement
The suspensions represent further enforcement action by the SPA as it oversees operators participating in Brazil’s regulated betting market.
Sigap forms a central part of that oversight, providing the Ministry of Finance with a system through which betting activities and regulatory information can be managed and monitored.
Responsible gaming requirements also form part of the conditions imposed on federally authorised businesses operating in Brazil.
The latest action follows a separate suspension involving Pixbet, although that case was ordered through the courts rather than the SPA enforcement process.
The 14 affected websites will remain subject to the precautionary restrictions while the regulatory issues identified by the SPA are addressed.
