Summer Slump Hits New York Sportsbooks as June Revenue Plummets Below $150m Threshold
According to the latest data released by the New York State Gaming Commission, mobile sportsbooks generated $116m last month.

The relentless revenue engine of New York’s mobile sports betting market experienced a significant gear change in June, as monthly gross gaming revenue (GGR) slipped below the $150m mark for the first time in nearly two years.
According to the latest data released by the New York State Gaming Commission, mobile sportsbooks generated $116m last month. The sluggish performance marks the first time since August 2024—when operators posted $126m—that the state's monthly revenue has failed to breach the $150m threshold.
The downturn highlights a stark contrast to previous performances. June’s $116m figure represents a steep 43.4% year-on-year collapse from the $206.5m in GGR recorded in June 2025. The month-on-month comparison tells a similar story of a summer slowdown, with revenue contracting by 42.8% from May’s robust $204.1m haul.
Handle Holds Firm Despite Revenue Dip
While the win margins or "hold" for operators took a visible hit, the drop was certainly not triggered by a lack of appetite from New York punters. The state actually enjoyed a remarkably resilient month in terms of betting volume.
The total mobile sports betting handle—the total amount wagered by players—reached an impressive $2.25bn in June. This represents a substantial 36.6% surge compared to the $1.6bn wagered during the same period in June 2025.
Furthermore, the betting volume managed to defy the typical seasonal slowdown sequentially, climbing 5.7% from the $2.1bn handled in May. The divergence between a rising handle and falling revenues suggests that a run of player-friendly sporting results heavily squeezed operator margins across the Empire State during the month.
