DraftKings Reports $3.1bn Prediction Markets Volume as Growth Accelerates

DraftKings has revealed that annualised trading volume across its prediction markets platform reached US$3.1 billion in May, marking a 34% increase from the previous month as the operator continues its push to become a leading force in the rapidly expanding sector.

The company launched DraftKings Predictions in December, entering a market that has gained significant traction across the United States as consumers increasingly engage with sports and event-based contracts.

Integrated into DraftKings’ flagship Super App, the product sits alongside the operator’s sportsbook, online casino and lottery offerings, providing customers with additional ways to engage with sporting events and other real-world outcomes.

Strong Month-on-Month Growth

In a filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on 9 June, DraftKings provided an update on the performance of its prediction markets business.

According to the operator, annualised consumer trading volume increased by 24% month-on-month to US$1.3 billion during May, while annualised total volume traded climbed 34% to US$3.1 billion.

DraftKings noted that the figures remain preliminary and unaudited and are based on internal data currently available to the business.

Commenting on the results via LinkedIn, Jason Robins said:

"We're not waiting for the game to come to us with DraftKings Predictions, we're playing offense.

"We are continuing to broaden the ways customers can engage with DraftKings sports experiences across the country. These early results reflect the incredible work of our incredible team. We're just getting started!"

Ambitions to Lead the Market

The latest update follows comments made by Robins during the company’s first-quarter earnings announcement in May, where he outlined DraftKings’ ambitions to secure a leading position within the prediction markets sector before the end of 2026.

At the time, he said:

"With our Super App, market making capabilities, proprietary exchange and combos coming together, we intend to establish a leadership position in Sports Predictions before year-end."

Alongside the growth of its prediction markets business, DraftKings reported overall first-quarter revenue of US$1.6 billion, representing a 17% year-on-year increase and highlighting the continued strength of the wider business as it expands into new product verticals.
