Brazilian Women Expand Presence in Online Betting as Market Records 26.4 Billion Visits in 2025

Women are playing an increasingly significant role in Brazil’s rapidly growing sports betting sector, as new data reveals the market generated 26.4 billion visits in 2025.

The figures come from the Painel das Bets, a monitoring tool developed by Aposta Legal, which tracks traffic and financial performance across the country’s betting market.

According to the data, women accounted for 37% of bettors using legal sportsbooks in 2025, an increase from 33.2% in 2024. Over the same period, male participation declined slightly from 66.8% to 63%, highlighting a gradual shift in the demographic profile of bettors in Brazil.

Growth in Female Participation

The rise in female participation reflects broader changes in how consumers engage with betting platforms, particularly through digital channels and mobile devices.

However, the trend has also raised concerns around responsible gambling. In 2024, Brazil’s Ministry of Health recorded 896 consultations related to gambling disorder, with 515 involving women, representing 57% of the total cases.

Research from Aposta Legal also indicates that women may be more influenced by third parties when choosing betting platforms. Social media plays a particularly important role in discovery.

The study found that 49% of women discovered betting sites via Instagram, compared with 46% of men. Meanwhile, 12% of female bettors reported being influenced by digital influencers, compared with 9% among men.

Experts warn that this reliance on external recommendations can sometimes lead users towards unverified or unregulated platforms, increasing potential financial risks.

Market Performance and Traffic Trends

The Brazilian betting market recorded 26.4 billion total visits in 2025, according to the Painel das Bets, which monitors both legal and illegal operators. In certain months, traffic surpassed 2.7 billion visits, including a peak in August.

In January 2026, licensed operators recorded 2.1 billion visits, representing a 4.1% decline compared with December 2025.

Brazil currently has 184 authorised operators, which generated R$2.7 billion in revenue during the same period.

Among the sportsbooks recording the highest monthly traffic were:

  • Betano – 467.4 million visits

  • Superbet – 224.8 million visits

  • 7Games.bet – 172.7 million visits

  • bet365 – 101.6 million visits

  • 7K – 99.9 million visits

Other brands, including Brasil Bet, KingPanda, Brazino777, Viva Sorte and Lotogreen, recorded some of the strongest percentage growth between January 2026 and December 2025.

From a financial perspective, legal betting operators generated gross revenue of R$2.7 billion in early 2026, with estimated tax contributions reaching R$411.3 million. In comparison, illegal betting activity generated approximately R$1.1 billion during the same period.

How the Bets Panel Tracks the Market

The Painel das Bets is an initiative created by Aposta Legal to provide continuous monitoring of Brazil’s regulated betting market.

The methodology combines traffic tracking tools with financial indicators and publicly available government data. Access figures from betting platforms are analysed alongside official revenue information to estimate metrics such as average revenue per visit, gross gaming revenue (GGR) and tax contributions.

Estimates for illegal betting are based on market studies suggesting that the segment generates around 40% of the revenue produced by legal operators.

The platform also analyses user demographics based on traffic to .bet.br domains, revealing that 98.8% of visits come from mobile devices, while 1.2% originate from desktop computers.

In terms of user demographics, men account for 63% of bettors, while women represent 37%. The largest age group is 25–34-year-olds (28.4%), followed by 35–44-year-olds (20.3%), highlighting the strong engagement of younger adult audiences in the online betting sector.
