Tennessee Sports Betting Handle Surges 50% in September
The state’s handle jumped from $375.9m in August to $565.3m in September — a significant boost likely driven by the return of major US sports. On a year-on-year basis, total wagers were up 7.7% from the $524.7m recorded in September 2024.

Tennessee’s sports betting market saw a sharp rise in activity during September, with total wagers climbing by more than 50% month-on-month, according to data from the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council.
The state’s handle jumped from $375.9m in August to $565.3m in September — a significant boost likely driven by the return of major US sports. On a year-on-year basis, total wagers were up 7.7% from the $524.7m recorded in September 2024.
Tax revenue also showed strong growth, increasing 50.6% from August to reach $10.4m in September. Compared with the same month last year, this represented an 8% rise from $9.6m.
The figures highlight a continued upward trend for Tennessee’s regulated sports betting sector, which has benefited from sustained customer engagement and expanding market competition.
