Gamstop Launches 5-Year Auto-Renewal Exclusion

Gamstop has kicked off the year with record-breaking registration numbers and the introduction of a groundbreaking new long-term exclusion feature aimed at supporting users in managing their gambling habits.

The organisation reported its highest daily registration figures since May 2023, with 415 new users signing up on January 1, followed by 413 on January 2 and 396 on January 6. These figures highlight the growing awareness and adoption of Gamstop's self-exclusion tools.

In response to feedback from its registered users, Gamstop has introduced a 5-year auto-renewal exclusion option. This new feature allows users to automatically extend their exclusion period for additional five-year increments, removing the need for manual renewals.

The decision to implement this enhancement followed an independent evaluation by Ipsos, which revealed that many users were anxious about the expiration of their exclusion periods and expressed a strong desire for longer-term options. To further support users, Gamstop will send email reminders every 15 months to those with 5-year exclusions, ensuring they stay informed about expiration and renewal dates.

This auto-renewal option joins Gamstop's existing exclusion periods of 6 months, 1 year, and 5 years, offering greater flexibility for users seeking to control their gambling behavior.

Fiona Palmer, CEO of Gamstop, shared her thoughts on this milestone:

“We have come a very long way since our launch in April 2018, but our journey doesn’t stop there.

“Our goal is to provide consumers with tools and options that empower them to take control of their gambling activity. As such, we’re consistently listening to feedback and evaluating the effectiveness of our service.

“Consumers wanted longer exclusion periods and we listened. The introduction of the 5-year auto-renewal exclusion is an important step in ensuring consumers peace of mind when using our service and helping vulnerable consumers take a sustained break from their gambling.”

This new development underscores Gamstop’s commitment to empowering users and enhancing its services to support responsible gambling, reaffirming its position as a leader in the fight against gambling-related harm.
