According to the April 2026 U.S. iGaming Revenue Report by COMPLETE iGAMING, the online casino market has maintained its momentum despite April's figures coming in slightly below March's all-time high. Across the seven active iGaming states, gross gaming revenue (GGR) continued to trend upwards, reinforcing the sector's position as one of the fastest-growing areas of regulated gambling.
What is iGaming?
iGaming, short for interactive gaming, refers to gambling activities conducted online. In the United States, the term is most commonly associated with real-money online casino games such as slots, blackjack, roulette and poker, which are available through desktop platforms and mobile applications.
Unlike sports betting, where players wager on the outcome of sporting events, iGaming focuses on casino-style games powered by random number generators or live dealer technology. Players can access these games from anywhere within a state where online casinos are legally regulated.
Real-money online casinos are currently legal in eight US states:
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Maine
- Michigan
- New Jersey
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- West Virginia
Each jurisdiction operates under its own regulatory framework, with individual rules covering licensing, taxation and approved operators.
April 2026 iGaming Revenue Overview
April delivered another strong performance for the US online casino industry. Total revenue reached approximately $938.5 million, up from around $800 million in April 2025, representing growth of roughly 17%.
Some industry analysts have estimated the figure at more than $1 billion due to reporting differences and late adjustments. Regardless of the final total, the wider trend remains clear: regulated online casinos are edging closer to consistently generating more than $1 billion in monthly revenue.
State-by-State Performance
The US iGaming market continues to be dominated by three major states: Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey.
Pennsylvania generated approximately $311.8 million in revenue, maintaining its position as one of the country's largest online casino markets. Slot games accounted for the majority of revenue, although table games experienced a slight decline.
Michigan reported $303.4 million in revenue, an increase of 22.3% year-on-year. While the state did not match its record March performance, it remains one of the strongest-performing markets, with FanDuel retaining a leading position.
New Jersey posted revenue of around $263.1 million, representing annual growth of 12%. As one of the most mature regulated markets in the US, the Garden State continues to deliver stable and consistent results.
Elsewhere:
- Connecticut generated $72.1 million, up around 12% year-on-year.
- West Virginia reported $38.6 million, marking one of the highest growth rates at 32%.
- Delaware reached a record $14.1 million, up 42% compared with April 2025.
- Rhode Island contributed a smaller share of overall revenue, with complete figures often released later than other jurisdictions.
Industry data continues to show sustained expansion across regulated online casino markets, with operators benefiting from increasing player engagement and continued investment in technology and product development.
Key Trends Driving Growth
Several factors continue to support the growth of online casinos across the United States:
- Online slots remain the industry's largest revenue generator.
- Live dealer products are attracting increasing numbers of players.
- Improved mobile casino experiences are boosting engagement.
- Major operators such as FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM continue to dominate market share.
- Higher player spending per session is helping increase overall revenue without the need for new market launches.
The sector also enjoys significantly stronger margins than online sports betting, making it an increasingly attractive proposition for both operators and state regulators.
The Bigger Picture for 2026
April's performance reflects a broader growth trend that has defined the US iGaming industry in recent years. During the first quarter of 2026 alone, regulated online casinos generated approximately $3.04 billion in revenue, representing year-on-year growth of more than 20%.
For the full year 2025, the market generated around $10.74 billion, an increase of 27.6% compared with the previous year.
While active iGaming operations currently exist in seven states, industry observers continue to monitor potential expansion opportunities. Maine, which has legalised online casino gaming, is among the jurisdictions being watched most closely as stakeholders await further developments.
Online Casinos Show No Signs of Slowing
iGaming has firmly established itself as the fastest-growing segment of the US commercial gaming industry. The sector delivers reliable tax revenue, strong player engagement and increasingly predictable financial performance for operators.
Although the pace of state-by-state expansion has slowed, existing markets continue to mature and become more profitable. April 2026 serves as another indication that regulated online casinos are evolving from a high-growth emerging sector into a stable and significant contributor to the wider US gaming industry.
