Superbet has entered the Greek market with the launch of its sportsbook and iGaming offering, marking a further step in its expansion across Central and Southern Europe.

The brand, owned by Super Technologies, will operate in Greece with a locally focused team. The company confirmed the launch earlier this week, positioning Greece as a key strategic market.

The move forms part of Superbet’s wider international growth strategy and follows recent expansion activity, including the acquisition of MaxBet, which strengthened its presence across Romania, Serbia and Malta.

Greece’s growing market

According to Ed Birkin of H2 Gambling Capital, Greece is an attractive and expanding market, growing at around 15% year-on-year. It currently represents approximately €1.2 billion in annual gross win and is forecast to reach €1.5 billion within the next few years.

“With less than 60% of the licensed betting and gaming market currently online, there’s further potential for a shift from land to online,” Birkin recently noted.

The market is home to around 20 active brands, with OPAP’s Stoiximan holding a leading position, accounting for roughly half of the licensed online sports betting market.

Athens has also emerged as a key hub, with operators and suppliers establishing technology and trading centres. This clustering effect is helping position Greece as a growing iGaming infrastructure base in Southern Europe.

Despite consistent double-digit growth in online revenues, digital penetration still trails more mature European markets, leaving further room for expansion as player behaviour continues to shift online.

‘Mature and thriving market’

Superbet has assembled a local team based in Athens, with a focus on Greek sports competitions and community engagement.

Adam Lamentowicz described Greece as a “mature and thriving market”.

“This goes beyond a typical market entry,” he said.

“It is a long-term commitment to build the country’s most engaging entertainment ecosystem and bring people closer through excitement and a shared passion for sporting competitions.”

John Kalamvokis added that the company has recruited “a strong group of professionals” to support its local operations. He also highlighted the introduction of Supersocial, a new social product designed to enhance user engagement: “We are just writing the first chapter of a future success story that will unfold with impactful partnerships and community projects.”

Proposition and product focus

Superbet’s Greek offering will centre on an extensive sportsbook covering football, basketball and tennis, with both pre-match and live betting markets available at competitive odds.

The operator also stressed its commitment to regulatory compliance and localisation, delivering tailored desktop and mobile experiences designed specifically for the Greek market.
