Detroit Casinos Report Steady Revenue Growth in February
The vast majority of this total came from traditional casino gaming, with table games and slot machines producing $100 million during the month.

Detroit’s three commercial casinos maintained strong performance in February 2026, generating a combined monthly revenue of $100.6 million, according to newly released figures.
The vast majority of this total came from traditional casino gaming, with table games and slot machines producing $100 million during the month. This represents a two per cent increase compared with February 2025, although revenue was three per cent lower than the figures recorded in January 2026.
Gaming activity remains the main revenue driver
Casino floor activity continued to dominate Detroit’s gaming market throughout February.
The city’s three operators collectively contributed $8.1 million in gaming taxes to the State of Michigan during the month. In addition, the casinos paid $11.9 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.
These payments form an important part of the local funding structure, with gaming revenues continuing to support both state and municipal finances.
Retail sports betting generates smaller contribution
While casino gaming remains the primary revenue stream, retail sports betting also contributed to February’s overall figures.
The three casinos reported $560,960 in revenue from retail sportsbooks, generated from a total betting handle of $6.5 million.
From these sports wagering activities, operators paid $21,204 in gaming taxes to the State of Michigan, alongside $25,916 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit.
Although the contribution from sports betting remains relatively modest compared with slots and table games, it continues to provide an additional revenue channel for the city’s casino market.
Market share split across three major operators
Detroit’s casino sector is divided between three major properties, with one operator continuing to lead the market.
- MGM Grand Detroit held the largest share at 48 per cent
- MotorCity Casino followed with 29 per cent
- Hollywood Casino at Greektown accounted for 23 per cent
The distribution highlights MGM Grand Detroit’s ongoing dominance in the local gaming market, while MotorCity and Hollywood Casino at Greektown continue to maintain significant shares of overall revenue.
