Vasco da Gama Seeks New Lead Sponsor Following Betfair Exit

Vasco da Gama is actively pursuing a new lead sponsor for the 2026 season after Betfair formally ended its partnership with the club on 31 December 2025.

The operator chose not to activate a renewal clause in its contract, which had been in place for around 18 months, leaving Vasco with a prime commercial space to fill ahead of a busy domestic calendar.

With the Betfair logo already removed from the club’s official platforms, Vasco’s management has opened negotiations with at least two betting operators: ZeroUm and EnergiaBet. Both have emerged as front-runners to secure the club’s most prominent shirt sponsorship slot as the Carioca Championship and Brazilian league season approach.

ZeroUm, operating under the ZeroUmBet brand, is currently active in the Brazilian market via a court ruling and is in the process of meeting regulatory requirements set by Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets. While the operator is not yet listed on the Federal Government’s approved operator register, it has judicial authorisation to operate nationwide.

EnergiaBet, part of the Responsa Gaming group, had previously explored a high-profile sponsorship with Corinthians, which included plans for a club-branded betting platform, though those talks did not progress.

Vasco is understood to be seeking more robust contractual terms than those agreed with Betfair. The club is targeting a minimum fixed fee of BR70m ($13m), alongside stricter penalty clauses and financial safeguards to mitigate any potential payment issues.

As the 2026 season kicks off, Vasco may start its campaign without a confirmed main sponsor, highlighting the urgency of finalising a deal with one of the interested operators.
