Ontario’s iGaming Market Hits Record CA$8.55 Billion in Wagers
The figure represents a 5% increase from August’s CA$8.14 billion and an impressive 30.7% rise year-on-year, underscoring the continued strength and expansion of the province’s digital gambling market.

Ontario’s regulated online gambling sector achieved another record-breaking month in September 2025, with total wagers reaching CA$8.55 billion (US$6.11 billion) across casino, sports betting, and poker — marking the second consecutive month of record activity, according to iGaming Ontario.
The figure represents a 5% increase from August’s CA$8.14 billion and an impressive 30.7% rise year-on-year, underscoring the continued strength and expansion of the province’s digital gambling market.
Casino Games Continue to Lead
The ongoing surge in activity also reflects rising consumer confidence in the Canadian online casino here in Ontario, where regulation has helped create a safer, more competitive and transparent digital gambling environment.
Casino gaming remained Ontario’s dominant vertical, generating CA$7.34 billion in wagers, followed by CA$1.06 billion in sports betting and CA$144 million in peer-to-peer poker.
Despite a minor month-on-month dip, total gross gaming revenue (GGR) stood at CA$329 million, down 1.8% from August but still 18.8% higher than September 2024. It also marked the sixth consecutive month that revenue exceeded CA$300 million.
Casino activity contributed CA$277.8 million, or 84.4% of total revenue, while sports betting accounted for CA$46.5 million and poker generated CA$5.1 million.
Record Player Activity Amid Lower Average Spend
Ontario also saw a surge in player engagement, with 1.2 million active accounts, the highest since the market’s launch. However, average revenue per player declined to CA$282, compared with CA$330 in August and CA$320 in September 2024 — the lowest monthly average since February, reflecting slightly lower individual spending despite increased participation.
FanDuel, BetMGM, Bet365, and BetRivers remain the leading licensed operators in the province, maintaining a strong hold on market share.
Ontario’s regulated iGaming sector continues to outperform expectations, with sustained wagering growth, record player activity, and a market trajectory that shows no signs of slowing.
