PrizePicks Secures Puerto Rico Licence as DFS Scrutiny Intensifies Across US
While the launch in Puerto Rico is not yet live, it is expected “in the coming months,” with preparations already underway.

PrizePicks has reached a significant regulatory milestone, becoming the first daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator licensed to operate in Puerto Rico. The development brings the company’s total number of licensed US jurisdictions to 47.
While the launch in Puerto Rico is not yet live, it is expected “in the coming months,” with preparations already underway.
The news comes as PrizePicks continues to expand its regulated footprint, with its fantasy contest platform, Arena, now live in Maine—a state where legal sports betting went live in 2023. The move highlights PrizePicks’ growing adaptability as regulatory environments shift across the US.
These advancements also arrive during a time of heightened scrutiny over DFS models, particularly in states debating whether certain fantasy formats resemble fixed-odds sports betting. In response, several jurisdictions have introduced or proposed restrictions on DFS products that mimic sportsbook-style gameplay.
Against this complex legal backdrop, PrizePicks' approvals in Puerto Rico and Maine mark a proactive step in securing long-term operational stability.
Todd Grossman, recently appointed as Director of Gaming Regulatory Compliance, is expected to play a key role in navigating the company through this evolving landscape.
