Allwyn UK Earns Two Leading Responsible Gambling Accreditations
The company has been awarded the European Lotteries (EL) Responsible Gaming Certification and Level 4 of the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming Framework—the highest possible level within the framework.

Allwyn UK, operator of The National Lottery, has secured two major certifications in recognition of its commitment to responsible gambling.
The company has been awarded the European Lotteries (EL) Responsible Gaming Certification and Level 4 of the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming Framework—the highest possible level within the framework. These certifications are globally recognised indicators that an operator meets the most stringent standards in player protection and responsible gambling practices.
Andria Vidler, CEO of Allwyn, commented:
“Just over a year on from taking over as The National Lottery operator, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve achieved these important EL and?WLA Responsible Gaming Certifications.
National Lottery games are specially designed to be safe and secure, ensuring they don’t appeal to underage or vulnerable players.
However, with over 30 million people routinely playing National Lottery games – raising over £30 million a week for good causes in the process – it’s crucial that we continue to do everything we can to prevent underage and excessive play.”
Allwyn has implemented a number of initiatives to support responsible play, including ensuring that its 43,500 retail partners follow the Challenge 25 policy. The company deployed over 8,200 mystery shoppers last year, with 92.3% of National Lottery retailers correctly requesting ID from customers when required.
Further responsible gambling measures include:
- Introducing a ten scratchcard limit per transaction in October.
- Becoming a Level Two member of the National Council of Problem Gambling’s Gift Responsibly Campaign.
- Launching the National Lottery Retail Training Centre to improve training for retailers.
- Adding QR codes to in-store media screens to give players direct access to support resources.
The announcement comes alongside strong financial results for Allwyn International, which reported a 12% year-on-year revenue increase, reaching €8.79bn (£7.4bn) for FY2024.
Vidler added:
“So, it’s great to have this external recognition of what we’ve achieved so far, but we also know that our work in this area is never finished.
We plan to continue working hard on our responsible play credentials and driving up our own high standards, keeping National Lottery players at the heart of everything we do.”
