Global OTT sports streaming platform DAZN is set to launch its online sportsbook in France, partnering with BetConstruct to power its DAZN Bet platform in the region. This follows a similar approach in the UK, Italy, and Germany, as the company continues its expansion into sports betting.

DAZN Bet’s French site will operate on the BetConstruct sportsbook platform, which is certified in France and has previously worked with Groupe Barrière, Partouche, and Vbet.

The move comes despite challenges in driving subscriptions for DAZN’s Ligue 1 offering, as highlighted by Gaming&Co. DAZN’s latest financial report shows pre-tax losses increased by 16% to $1.4bn in 2023, despite a 32% rise in revenue to $2.9bn.

Billionaire backer Len Blavatnik injected an additional $827m into the company in 2023 to offset losses, bringing his total investment to over $6.7bn since DAZN’s launch in 2016.

Despite these figures, CEO Shay Segev told the Financial Times that the company’s top 10 markets are profitable, and DAZN’s revenues are expected to exceed $6bn this year.

In December, DAZN acquired Australia’s Foxtel for A$3.4bn (£1.7bn) in its largest-ever transaction. Foxtel is now DAZN’s second-largest shareholder at 9%, and sources told the FT that DAZN is valued at close to $10bn, with plans to attract institutional investors before a potential stock market listing.

DAZN’s investment in media rights continues to climb, with rights costs rising by over 30% to $3.1bn in 2023 and future rights commitments reaching $9.3bn, reflecting the company’s commitment to securing top-tier sports content.
