Brazil has revealed an expansive roster of approved sports for fixed-odds betting just ahead of the official market opening, with football unsurprisingly leading the way. According to the Ministry of Sports, bettors will soon have access to a diverse range of activities, including basketball, boxing, cricket, tennis, surfing, and even niche options like skateboarding, diving, and equestrianism. The comprehensive list covers all sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee and a substantial number of Paralympic events.

Unsurprisingly, football is expected to dominate, with reports from H2GC highlighting that 86% of Brazil’s sports betting gross gaming revenue (GGR) is generated by the sport.

The announcement comes alongside reports of significant licensing activity. Local sources confirm that 68 online gaming licenses have been approved, a mix of local and international operators, with Novibet confirming its approval earlier today. For sports wagering, 67 licenses have been issued, including 15 unconditional approvals and 52 provisional ones.

These developments follow Brazil’s recent progress in processing online gambling applications, with companies like Salsa Gator achieving GLI certification for online gaming. As the market gears up for launch, the combination of an extensive sports list and robust licensing activity sets the stage for a thriving betting landscape in 2025.
