Virgin Bet Launches 'A Grand Isn’t Grand' Campaign to Tackle Rising Season Ticket Costs

Virgin Bet, in partnership with the Sport Social Podcast Network, has unveiled the “A Grand Isn’t Grand” campaign, addressing the escalating costs of Premier League season tickets.

With some clubs pricing tickets above £1,000 ($1,265), the campaign aims to ease the financial burden on fans by awarding £1,000 each to eight season ticket holders. Winners will be selected based on personal stories submitted through the competition, which is open to UK-based football fans.

Participants can share their own experiences or nominate someone they believe deserves financial support. Submissions can be made as written stories or voice notes via the campaign’s official website, with a deadline of 22nd December. Winners will be notified in January 2025.

Fan Accessibility at the Heart of the Campaign

The initiative comes amid growing frustration among fans over the affordability of attending live matches, with ticket prices continuing to rise. Virgin Bet’s Marketing Director, Dominic Vye, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting fans:

"At Virgin Bet, we believe that ‘A Grand Isn’t Grand’ when it comes to the cost of being a football fan. We are committed to making sport accessible for all and with rising season ticket prices, this campaign is our way of supporting fans who help make the sport so special."

A Commitment to Accessibility and Inclusivity

The campaign reflects Virgin Bet’s broader “A Good Bet” brand ethos, which focuses on improving accessibility and inclusivity in sports. Past initiatives under this programme include sponsorship of Women’s Day at Doncaster Racecourse and partnerships aimed at integrating safety features for event attendees.

Championing the Fans

As Premier League ticket prices climb, the “A Grand Isn’t Grand” campaign not only sheds light on affordability issues but also offers direct financial support to fans. By celebrating the personal stories that showcase the passion and dedication of football supporters, Virgin Bet continues to reinforce its commitment to making sports more inclusive and accessible for all.
