Stake Brazil Gains Official Approval Ahead of Regulated Market Launch

Stake Brazil Ltda, a subsidiary of the global betting operator Stake, has secured authorization from Brazil's Ministry of Finance to operate as a licensed betting provider. This approval came after a thorough review of Stake's application and supporting documents, positioning the company as one of the operators authorized to offer betting services in Brazil.

To support its expansion, Stake plans to open a new office in São Paulo and hire a country manager, following a strategy already employed in other Latin American markets. The operator highlighted its strong local presence through partnerships with Brazilian entities, including Série A football club Juventude and UFC Brazil, where it collaborates with renowned athletes like Alex Pereira and Alexandre Pantoja.

Stake's influence extends far beyond Brazil, with a robust network of partnerships established this year. Notable collaborations include agreements with the UFC in Asia, a non-profit responsible gambling organization BetBlocker, and Hub88, which grants Stake exclusive access to its extensive portfolio of games from over 120 studios.

As the Brazilian regulated online gaming market is set to go live on January 1, 2025, the industry is seeing a surge in interest. Nearly 200 operators have applied for authorization with the Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA). Although the official deadline for authorization was October 1, requests continued beyond the cutoff, with over 15 applications submitted in early October. To date, 93 operators have been approved to operate during Brazil's transition period.

Stake's title sponsorship of the Sauber racing team, now known as the Stake F1 Team, has also garnered attention. While the partnership began with the unveiling of the C44 vehicle in February, it has faced obstacles in regions where Stake is not licensed. In August, the Dutch regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) intervened, asking the team to refrain from promoting Stake during the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.

With Brazil's regulated betting market set to officially launch in January, Stake's authorization marks a significant step in solidifying its foothold in the country, ensuring compliance and a strategic presence as the market undergoes its transformation.
