Allwyn's Takeover of UK National Lottery Boosts Q1 Revenue

Allwyn reported a substantial impact on its Q1 operations after taking control of the UK National Lottery, resulting in a 28.1% year-on-year revenue increase. For the three months ending March 31, revenue reached €2.11bn (£1.80bn/$2.30bn), surpassing the €1.65bn recorded in the same period last year, aligning with previous forecasts.

Gross gaming revenue, derived from gaming activities, rose by 27.1% to €2.02bn. Additionally, net revenue for the quarter saw a 16.0% increase, amounting to €940.9m. CEO Robert Chvatal attributed the significant growth to Allwyn's acquisition of the National Lottery, which officially transferred to Allwyn from Camelot on February 1. Camelot had managed the lottery since its inception in 1994.

Allwyn now oversees all National Lottery operations and products, including online and retail sales for the main Lotto draw, Set For Life, Thunderball, and Hotpicks, as well as scratchcards and the UK’s access to the Europe-wide EuroMillions game.

Chvatal hailed the transition as a pivotal moment in Allwyn’s history and lauded the initial months of their new role, noting the group's successful start as the new licensee. “This represented the coming to fruition of many years of dedication by a team from across our geographies,” Chvatal said. “We’re excited to have already started work on transforming The UK National Lottery for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
