National Gambling Support Network Marks First Anniversary

On the first anniversary of the National Gambling Support Network, new data indicates a record number of interactions in January 2024, with the helpline receiving its highest call volume ever.
Over the past year, the GambleAware-backed network engaged in detailed discussions with over 28,000 individuals via the helpline and many others through their regional service providers, according to the released figures.
On average, individuals were connected to treatment within three and a half days.
Comprising 11 different organizations across Great Britain, the National Gambling Support Network established by GambleAware provides comprehensive assistance for those affected by gambling harm, whether directly or indirectly. This includes residential programs, individual support, and cognitive behavioural therapy, among other services.
“The GambleAware commissioned National Gambling Support Network is designed to prevent the escalation of harms associated with gambling,” stated Anna Hargrave, Chief Commissioning Officer at GambleAware. “The Network provides people with easy access to treatment and support wherever they are across Great Britain.
“It is heartening to hear the positive impact the services have on people’s lives and the difference they make. These essential third sector providers play a vital role for people across the country, and we look forward to continuing to share this expertise and experience alongside the NHS under the new system once a levy is introduced.”
