GREF Appoints Ian Angus As Treasurer In Board Reshuffle

The Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF) has reshuffled its board, with UK Gambling Commission Director of Policy Ian Angus appointed as treasurer and Olivia Petit named board secretary.

The changes follow the departures of Tim Miller and Jean-Michel Costes, who have stepped down after several years of involvement with the organisation. Miller's departure follows his decision to leave the Gambling Commission, while Costes has concluded his role with French regulator Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ).

GREF brings together gambling regulators from across Europe and other jurisdictions to encourage cooperation, exchange information and share regulatory experience and best practice.

Angus Replaces Miller As Treasurer

Angus succeeds Miller as GREF treasurer, maintaining UK Gambling Commission representation on the organisation's board.

He has served as Director of Policy at the Gambling Commission since 2020 and has been involved in the regulator's work surrounding the UK government's Gambling Act review and subsequent regulatory reforms, including the development of financial risk assessments.

Miller had served on the GREF board for several years alongside his senior responsibilities at the Gambling Commission. He announced earlier this year that he would leave the UK regulator following a decade with the organisation.

GREF thanked Miller for his contribution to the forum during his tenure.

Costes has also departed following the conclusion of his role with France's ANJ. His period with GREF coincided with increased regulatory attention across Europe towards areas including gambling advertising and player protection.

Olivia Petit Named Board Secretary

Petit joins the GREF board as secretary alongside Angus' appointment as treasurer.

She is an Associate Professor at KEDGE Business School, with research interests covering consumer behaviour in digital environments and emerging technologies.

The appointments come during a period of leadership changes at several European gambling regulators. In the UK, Ruth Evans was recently appointed permanent Chair of the Gambling Commission following more than a year of interim leadership under Charles Counsell.

GREF said the board changes follow the departure of two long-standing members and thanked both Miller and Costes for their work with the organisation.
