Alberta Seeks Proposals for Gambling Addiction Services Following iGaming Launch

Alberta has launched a search for new gambling addiction programs to strengthen its support network following the recent opening of its regulated online gaming market.

Expanding Beyond Existing Provision

In a request for expressions of interest published on Monday, the province confirmed it is seeking to fund additional support services to complement existing resources. These new initiatives will build upon the care currently delivered through Recovery Alberta, which includes a 21-day bed-based treatment program alongside helpline support.

Funded by Gaming Revenue

According to a statement from the Mental Health and Addiction Ministry, the new programs will be financed directly through government revenue generated by Alberta’s regulated iGaming market, which officially went live last month.
