Betway has announced a landmark partnership with Towcester Racecourse owners Orchestrate, paving the way for the return of National Hunt racing to the historic Northamptonshire venue in autumn 2027.

Under the agreement, the Super Group-owned sportsbook will become the racecourse’s Principal Strategic Partner, with the venue set to be renamed Betway Towcester Racecourse. Betway will also become the exclusive betting partner across all fixtures at the track, marking a first for UK horse racing.

Refurbishment works worth more than £2 million are already underway, with the redevelopment designed to prepare the venue for the start of the 2027/28 jumps season. The return of racing to Towcester, which famously staged AP McCoy’s 4,000th career winner in 2013, will also be documented in a fly-on-the-wall series due for release in 2027.

Paul Townend, a Betway ambassador and seven-time Irish Champion National Hunt jockey, will contribute to the project with a particular focus on jockey welfare, including input into course layout and weighing-room facilities.

Lewis Knowles, PR Manager at Betway, said:

“Towcester holds a special place in British racing history, and we are delighted to be working with the team there to bring horse racing back to such an iconic venue.

“As Principal Strategic Partner, our aim is to create a first-class experience for racegoers, owners, trainers and jockeys at Betway Towcester Racecourse. Significant work is already underway to prepare the track and facilities ahead of racing’s return.

“We are also excited to document this journey in a fly-on-the-wall series that will be released in 2027.

“We would like to thank everyone at Orchestrate for their commitment in making this partnership possible, and we look forward to playing our part in the next chapter of Towcester’s story.”

Mike Davis, Chairman of Orchestrate, commented:

“We are thrilled to welcome Betway as Principal Strategic Partner of the refurbished racecourse. Bringing horse racing back to Towcester for the local community and fans of the sport has always been our ambition, and this partnership turns that vision into reality.

“We are now working closely with the BHA to secure the necessary racecourse licences so that racing can resume in autumn 2027. Positive discussions are also taking place regarding fixtures for that period, and it is hugely encouraging to see the wider racing community working together to support the sport.”

Freddie Hesketh, Managing Director of Fermor Land, added:

“I am delighted that National Hunt racing will be returning to Towcester after nearly a decade, thanks to the investment and dedication of Richard Thomas and Mike Davis of Orchestrate, together with the team at Betway.

“This is a significant boost for both the sport and the local area. Our recent Towcester Parklands consultation highlighted the strength of support for National Hunt racing, and the racecourse will remain at the heart of our long-term plans for the area.”

The return of racing to Towcester is expected to provide a major boost to the local economy and re-establish the venue as one of the key National Hunt destinations in the Midlands ahead of the 2027/28 season.
