EBAC Launches Brazilian-Made Technology to Detect At-Risk Gamblers
The Pulse platform uses behavioural data and operator KPIs to help betting companies identify early signs of harmful gambling in Brazil’s rapidly expanding market.

The Brazilian Company for Support of Compulsive Gamblers (EBAC) has unveiled a new data-driven solution designed to help betting operators identify and manage players at risk of problematic gambling.
Named Pulse, the platform has been developed domestically and aims to provide operators with early-warning insights into player behaviour, supporting safer gambling strategies as Brazil’s regulated betting market continues to scale.
Growing Market, Growing Responsibility
Brazil’s Ministry of Treasury published an updated list of authorised betting platforms in January 2026, confirming that 199 operators are currently licensed and operating in compliance with national regulations.
The rapid expansion of the market has attracted major international brands, intensifying competition and increasing scrutiny around consumer protection. Against this backdrop, responsible gambling tools are becoming a strategic priority for operators seeking to balance growth with regulatory and social responsibility.
How the Pulse Platform Works
Pulse integrates directly with operator systems and analyses a range of key performance indicators (KPIs) to build behavioural profiles of players. These include metrics such as deposit patterns, betting volumes, frequency of activity, login behaviour, session duration, and winnings.
The platform evaluates user behaviour over rolling 30-day periods, generating insights that allow operators to segment players based on behavioural intensity and potential risk. Users are classified across behavioural categories—stable, moderate, or intense—and assigned risk levels ranging from low to high in relation to the likelihood of developing gambling-related problems.
By focusing on relevant behavioural signals early in the customer journey, Pulse is designed to help operators make targeted, proportionate interventions without overwhelming internal teams with unnecessary data.
Benefits for Operators and Regulators
EBAC argues that the technology offers both operational and strategic advantages. Early identification of vulnerable players enables operators to implement preventive measures, reducing regulatory exposure while strengthening credibility in an increasingly competitive market.
According to EBAC, the adoption of tools such as Pulse can also enhance compliance standards and support the development of a more mature and sustainable betting ecosystem in Brazil.
Cristiano Costa, EBAC’s director of knowledge, emphasised the broader purpose of the platform:
“More than preventing crises in the operators, we want to raise awareness in the sector and society about the real role of betting in Brazil, promote the proper referral of compulsive gamblers to appropriate treatment, and offer consulting services to agents in this ecosystem on the prevention of gambling addiction.”
Brazil’s Global Position in Online Betting
Brazil’s scale makes the deployment of responsible gambling technology particularly significant. The country ranks among the world’s largest online betting markets, according to Regulus Partners, and leads globally in audience reach, accounting for nearly a quarter of total sector traffic, based on Similarweb data.
As regulatory frameworks evolve and market participation continues to grow, initiatives such as Pulse highlight the increasing role of technology in balancing commercial expansion with player protection. For Brazil’s betting industry, the challenge now is not only to grow—but to do so responsibly.
