Sportradar Secures Licence from UAE Gaming Regulator as Market Moves Toward Full Implementation

Sportradar has been granted a licence by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), marking a major step in the UAE’s transition toward a regulated commercial gaming market.

Effective immediately, the licence authorises Sportradar to supply its sports data, technology, and integrity services to licensed operators across the country.

Established in 2023, the GCGRA is the UAE’s federal authority responsible for regulating, licensing, and supervising all forms of commercial gaming and national lotteries. Sportradar’s approval underscores the regulator’s shift from framework development to full operational rollout as international service providers begin entering the market.

For Sportradar, the UAE licence expands its global footprint and adds to a growing list of regulated jurisdictions. The Switzerland-based company has reported consistent growth throughout 2025, with first- and second-quarter revenues both showing double-digit increases. It has also deepened its long-term partnerships with major sports organisations, including UEFA and the NBA, providing advanced analytics, real-time integrity monitoring, and betting technology solutions.

Sportradar’s CEO, Carsten Koerl, said the company remains committed to operating in regulated environments and aligning its technology with compliance and responsible gaming standards worldwide.

The UAE licence enables Sportradar to collaborate with local operators, deploying its AI-driven data and integrity solutions to safeguard sporting integrity.

The GCGRA’s decision follows the UAE’s approval of its first major gaming resort, Wynn Al Marjan Island, due to open in Ras Al Khaimah by 2027. Together, these developments highlight the UAE’s measured approach to economic diversification underpinned by strict regulatory oversight.

Sportradar’s market entry positions it as a key partner in one of the world’s most closely watched emerging gaming jurisdictions.
