DraftKings Unveils ‘Ghost Leg’ Promotion for Start of NFL Season

DraftKings has launched a new promotion as the 2025–26 NFL season kicks off, targeting what is expected to be a record-breaking period for US sportsbooks.

The operator has introduced the Ghost Leg promotion, a first-of-its-kind feature designed exclusively for Week 1 and Week 2 NFL betting. The promotion allows customers to remove one losing leg from a three-or-more leg parlay and still secure a cash payout on the remaining winning selections.

For example, a bettor who goes 4-for-5 on an NFL parlay would be paid out on the four correct picks rather than losing the full wager. To access the offer, customers must select the Ghost Leg Token in their betslip before submitting a qualifying parlay.

DraftKings noted that in the previous season, more than 30 million parlays of three or more legs fell short by just one pick. By rolling out this feature, the operator aims to ease the frustration of near misses while keeping players engaged during the opening weeks of the season.

The promotion applies to both pre-game and live parlays during Weeks 1 and 2, though it is restricted to one token per customer.

The push for innovative promotions comes as the American Gaming Association (AGA) projects more than $30bn in regulated wagers during the 2025 football season, up 8.5% on last year. With betting now embedded across the sporting landscape, operators are under increasing pressure to differentiate their offerings and retain customers in a highly competitive market.
