Virgin Bet-Backed Easter Fixture Returns to Musselburgh with £300,000 in Prizes

Musselburgh Racecourse is gearing up for a spectacular Easter celebration, with nearly £300,000 in prize money up for grabs during the thrilling Virgin Bet Easter Saturday Race Day.

The headline act at Saturday’s fixture (19 April) is the prestigious £100,000 Virgin Bet Queen’s Cup, run over 1 mile 6 furlongs. It’s joined by Scotland’s fastest horse race – the lightning-quick £45,000 Virgin Bet Scottish Sprint Cup over five furlongs.

Hospitality packages for the sought-after Easter weekend event sold out weeks in advance, reflecting the growing popularity of this seven-race card.

Bill Farnsworth, Director of Musselburgh Racecourse, said:

“The Virgin Bet Easter Saturday meeting is one of our premier Flat fixtures and really sets the standard going forward into our summer Flat season.
With just a shade under £300,000 on offer, it rightly attracts some of the racing industry’s top trainers and race goers will be treated to hotly contested races, which together with fantastic off-course entertainment makes Easter Saturday at Musselburgh a ‘must’ for thousands of people.

The Queen’s Cup over a lengthy 1m 6 combined with the short and sharp five furlong Scottish Sprint Cup provides something for everyone and we look forward to an excellent day of Flat racing.”

The entertainment kicks off before the first race with the return of the fan-favourite Corgi Derby at midday, flagged off by tennis coach and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Judy Murray, who will also set off the Mini Queen’s Cup at 1pm – a fun run for kids on Happy Hoppers.

Families are well catered for with the Clip Clop zone, featuring free fairground rides, face painting, game stalls, and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Entry is free for under 17s when accompanied by an adult.

Food and drink options are just as exciting, with street food favourites including WHT, The Chippy, Dog N Bon, Wicked Pizza and Dippin Doughnuts, alongside family-friendly choices at The Deli, Café 1816 and Harris Tweed Bistro.

Meanwhile, grown-ups can enjoy a drink on the Picnic Lawn, choosing from traditional Pimms, cocktails by Bonnie Bar Co, and refreshments from the Little Margarita Truck.

The fun doesn’t stop at the finish line – racegoers are invited to the After-Racing Party, hosted by Forth One’s Callum Gallacher, who’ll be spinning tunes for a lively send-off after the final race.
