BGC Confirms 2025 AGM with Key Industry and Government Leaders
This highly anticipated event will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow Secretary of State Stuart Andrew MP, and Gambling Commission CEO Andrew Rhodes.

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has announced that its Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025 will take place on Thursday, February 27th, at a central London venue. This highly anticipated event will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow Secretary of State Stuart Andrew MP, and Gambling Commission CEO Andrew Rhodes.
Under the theme “Making a Difference,” the AGM will bring together industry leaders to discuss the latest opportunities and challenges facing the regulated betting and gaming sector. Attendees will focus on key industry priorities, such as implementing the White Paper reforms, supporting economic growth, enhancing customer entertainment, and driving higher industry standards.
Building on the success of last year’s AGM, the 2025 edition will further explore the role of collaboration in navigating the evolving regulatory landscape. Industry stakeholders will examine ways to promote responsible gaming while fostering innovation and sustainable growth.
Registration for the AGM is now open, with BGC CEO Grainne Hurst urging members to secure their participation early.
The BGC represents over 90% of the UK’s regulated betting and gaming industry, a sector that contributes £6.8 billion to the economy, generates £4 billion in tax revenue, and supports 109,000 jobs. It also provides essential funding for popular sports, including £350 million annually for horseracing, £40 million for the English Football League, and over £12.5 million for sports such as snooker, darts, and rugby league.
With 22.5 million Britons engaging in betting activities each month, the majority do so responsibly. The latest NHS Health Survey for England estimates that just 0.4% of adults are problem gamblers, underscoring the importance of ongoing industry efforts to uphold responsible gambling standards.
BGC CEO Grainne Hurst on AGM 2025
Grainne Hurst expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating:
“The BGC AGM is always a major highlight for our sector, and I am absolutely delighted to confirm such an outstanding lineup of keynote speakers at this year’s AGM.
“I also want to say a huge thank you to Baroness Twycross, Stuart Andrew, and Andrew Rhodes for taking time out of their diaries to attend.
“On behalf of our members and the tens of thousands of jobs they support, I want to say how much we value their vital engagement with industry.
“The Government has set out a bold mission to deliver growth, jobs, and investment, and I know our members, championed by the BGC, have a critical role to play in delivering on that challenge across the UK.
“Our theme and strapline for this year’s AGM is Making a Difference, and as we move forward into a new era post the publication of the White Paper, it could not be more fitting.
“After a long period of instability, we are looking forward to working with the Government to deliver the outstanding policies from the White Paper, so our sector can get back to what it does best—making a positive difference for millions of customers and the UK economy.
“We have much to get on with, and the AGM is the perfect place to set the tone for the rest of the year. I encourage everyone to sign up soon, and I look forward to welcoming you to our AGM in February.”
With a packed agenda and high-profile speakers, AGM 2025 is set to be a landmark event for the UK’s betting and gaming industry.
