William Hill has announced its sponsorship of Super Saturday at Newbury Racecourse, set to take place on 8th February, rebranding one of National Hunt racing’s biggest fixtures as the William Hill Super Saturday.

Sandro Di Michele, Director of Horse Racing at William Hill, commented:

"We’re delighted to further our involvement in some of the biggest days in National Hunt racing, and the roll of honour on this day at Newbury is right up there with the very best.

“It fits perfectly into an exciting time of year for us as we build up to our return to Cheltenham Festival sponsorship, as well as our third season as the official betting partner of Aintree’s Randox Grand National Festival.”

As part of the deal, William Hill secures the naming rights to three key races, including the UK’s most valuable handicap hurdle, the William Hill Hurdle, worth £155,000, along with the William Hill Denman Chase and the William Hill Game Spirit Chase.

Di Michele added:

Racing is in our DNA, and our new sponsorship with Newbury demonstrates our further commitment to British racing. We believe it’s important to be involved as sponsors of some of racing’s biggest events, coupled with our commitment to giving our customers proper value.

“We offered more top prices on horse racing in 2024 than other major bookmakers, and we continue that into 2025 along with Best Odds Guaranteed daily from 8am on every UK and Irish race.

“We also know the importance of Super Saturday for Cheltenham Festival hopefuls, and with our Cheltenham Festival Non Runner Money Back offer, you can back Festival fancies with William Hill, safe in the knowledge that you’ll get your money back if they don’t make it to their target in March.”*

The William Hill Hurdle was previously sponsored by Betfair from 2012 to 2024, with its prize fund remaining between £150,000 and £155,000, except in 2021 when it was reduced due to COVID-19.

Jordan Coates, Head of Sales at Newbury Racecourse, welcomed the partnership:

“Having worked with William Hill over the past ten years, we are delighted to be expanding our existing relationship with the well-known brand, which also occupies two betting shops on course.

“We extend our thanks to William Hill for their support of one of our flagship National Hunt meetings, which is guaranteed to deliver top-quality racing action. We look forward to promoting the raceday with William Hill in the coming weeks.”*

This latest sponsorship follows William Hill’s recent announcement that it will also sponsor the William Hill County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March—a race that often features horses competing in the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury. This is in addition to the news that William Hill had welcomed Keith Donoghue as its new Horse Racing Ambassador.

In recent years, several contenders have performed well in both events, including L’Eau du Sud, who finished runner-up in both races last season, as well as Filey Bay (2023) and First Street (2022), who also placed in both contests.

Further strengthening its horse racing offering, William Hill became the first bookmaker to offer ‘Non Runner Money Back’ on this year’s Cheltenham Festival from New Year’s Day, while its Best Odds Guaranteed on all UK and Irish racing from 8am daily continues to provide added value for punters.
