Entain Reports Record-Breaking Bets on Mike Tyson v Jake Paul Boxing Match

Entain has unveiled historic betting figures from the Netflix-broadcast boxing showdown between the legendary Mike Tyson and YouTuber Jake Paul.

The fight, featured on Entain’s BetMGM, Coral, and Ladbrokes platforms, set records for the highest number of bets and total stakes ever placed on a combat sports event in the operator’s history.

Despite the age difference between the competitors, Jake Paul entered as the bookmaker’s favorite. However, Entain’s data reveals that 68% of bettors backed Mike Tyson for victory, with Tyson winning by knockout being the most popular wager.

Netflix’s global reach proved instrumental, with the fight drawing 65 million viewers at its peak and 50 million more watching Katie Taylor’s undercard victory against Amanda Serrano.

Jake Paul’s influence further contributed to the record-breaking activity, having previously appeared in six of Entain’s top 25 most bet-on boxing matches. The previous record was held by the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight in May 2024.

Greg Ferris, Entain’s Managing Director for Sports, credited the unique combination of celebrity appeal and streaming access:

“Our trading desks are always ready for an increase in interest from a 'celebrity' type fighter, but the impact of Netflix broadcasting this fight can’t be overlooked. Their large subscriber base, promotion, and the decision to offer it to existing customers at no additional cost saw record numbers of viewers.

“Putting these two in a ring attracted fans from both sides of the fence, creating a rare crossover event. With the odds also relatively close, a whole raft of new bettors flocked to back their favorites, making this the most bet-on fight in our history.

“It will be fascinating to see if this follows through to their Christmas Day NFL games, which they are broadcasting for the first time this year, and if any other large streaming platforms react.”
