York Crowned Champion at Racecourse Association’s 13th Showcase Awards
In a ceremony held at the Signet Library in Edinburgh, 200 guests gathered as RCA chair Wilf Walsh celebrated York’s high standards:
York Racecourse claimed the top prize at the Racecourse Association’s 13th annual Showcase Awards, adding to its previous win in 2015 and joining Aintree and Ascot as the only multiple winners. This year, York earned the Racing Connection Award for its collaboration with the Professional Jockeys Association and Great British Racing, helping fans connect with jockeys, and the Racing Foundation Green Award for its Bustardthorpe development.

York’s chief executive William Derby honored the memory of long-serving grounds team member Kevin Upton, who passed away this year:
“I am very pleased, very honoured and very humbled. We’re all thinking of him tonight.”
Hosted by Rishi Persad and record-holding rower Taylor Winyard, the awards celebrated British racecourses with Kelso winning the Racing Post readers' award and Yorkshire tracks Beverley, Ripon, Pontefract, and Go Racing In Yorkshire all taking home awards.
