PlaylogiQ Wins Innovation of the Year at SBWA+ 2026, Completing an East–West Double in Africa
After its win at Sports Betting East Africa+ in Nairobi, the Barcelona-based iGaming technology provider takes the same title in Dakar, recognition built on years of working alongside African operators.

PlaylogiQ has been named Innovation of the Year at the Sports Betting West Africa+ (SBWA+) Eventus Awards 2026, held on 14 October in Dakar.
The award follows the company’s win in the same category at Sports Betting East Africa+ (SBEA+) in Nairobi. That makes PlaylogiQ a two-time Innovation of the Year winner at separate African industry events in a single year, on both sides of the continent.
“Receiving these two awards in East and West Africa in the same year means a great deal to our team,” said Baha Yaya, CEO of PlaylogiQ. “It’s recognition we’re proud of, but also encouragement to keep improving.”
Innovation that starts with the operator
For the sportsbook and casino platform provider, the double recognition reflects an approach shaped less by trends than by the day-to-day realities of African markets: different regulatory environments, payment ecosystems and distribution models, often within the same region.
“Over the years, working closely with African operators has taught us that the most valuable innovations often come from solving everyday business challenges,” Yaya added. “A new feature only matters if it makes a real difference to the people using the platform.”
Three areas in particular have guided PlaylogiQ’s platform development: local payment integration, operational flexibility, and the link between retail and online betting.
From White Label to API: more control for operators
One trend PlaylogiQ sees clearly in its conversations with African operators is the demand for more flexible technology models.
Fully managed White Label solutions remain the right fit for operators who want an integrated setup. More established businesses, however, are increasingly turning to API-based approaches, so they can build and control their own front ends and native apps while relying on proven infrastructure underneath.
PlaylogiQ’s modular, API-first architecture supports both paths, letting each operator decide how much of the customer experience and technical integration it wants to own.
Payments and retail: where local markets make the difference
Payment localisation is another key factor. PlaylogiQ’s Payment Hub supports more than 150 payment methods, including integrations with the mobile money services that play a central role in many African markets.
The platform also handles both retail and online operations, reflecting the continued importance of physical betting networks alongside digital channels in several countries.
Looking ahead in West and Francophone Africa
PlaylogiQ attended SBWA+ 2026 as an event sponsor, meeting operators, partners and industry stakeholders to discuss the development of West and Francophone African betting markets.
With two awards behind it this year, the company’s focus stays the same: strengthening its technology, responding to what operators need, and building long-term relationships across the continent.
