Industry Runners And Golfers Raise £50,000 For CHIPS Charity
Gambling industry professionals have raised £50,000 for CHIPS through a charity golf day and the Royal Parks Half Marathon, helping fund at least six bespoke powered wheelchairs.

Gambling industry professionals have raised a combined £50,000 for CHIPS charity through two sporting fundraising events held across four weeks.
The money will enable CHIPS to fund at least six bespoke powered wheelchairs for young people with significant mobility needs.
The fundraising included the annual CHIPS charity golf day in September, followed by a team of industry runners taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon a month later.
Golf Day Raises More Than £41,000
A total of 111 golfers representing 17 companies participated in the annual CHIPS charity golf day, raising more than £41,000 towards the purchase of powered wheelchairs.
The event was held at Woburn Golf Club, which has hosted more than 60 professional tournaments.
The CHIPS trophy was won by Genting UK’s Paul Willcock, Tony Pearce, John Liddle and Glen Garton.
A month later, 20 runners representing Genting UK, WorldGaming, Better Change, the Betting and Gaming Council, Game Nation and Metropolitan Casinos completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon.
The runners generated a further £9,000 in sponsorship for the charity, taking the combined fundraising total from the two events to £50,000.
CHIPS Approaches 800th Wheelchair Presentation
CHIPS Co-Founder and Trustee Linda Lindsay said:
“CHIPS was born out of the gambling industry and since its formation has raised in excess of an amazing £4.5m to fund the purchase of bespoke powered wheelchairs for young people.“At every presentation when we handover the CHIPS chair the response from the youngster and his/her family is the same: pure and unadulterated joy at being given the freedom that most of us quite understandably take for granted.
“The fabulous news is that with the outstanding chairs that we have on order plus the funds raised at our Golf Day and the Half Marathon sponsorships we are on course to celebrate our 800th wheelchair presentation around the time that the industry meets at ICE Barcelona.
“At a time when detractors are so dismissive of the business, I would like to point out that absolutely none of this would have been possible, without the compassion and the support received from the gambling industry.
“When it comes to fundraising, every single penny and every single cent counts – which is why I’m so proud to confirm that none of the CHIPS Trustees receive anything in expenses – it all goes towards the purchase of more wheelchairs and our commitment to transform lives.”
CHIPS has raised more than £4.5m since its formation and is now on course to mark its 800th wheelchair presentation around the time of ICE Barcelona.
