Pythia Sports has appointed Ben Hutton as Head of Trading following two decades leading international racing at Entain and its predecessor businesses.
Hutton recently joined Pythia after leaving Entain, where he led the group’s UK-facing international racing product. He began with Gala Coral Group in August 2005 and remained with the business through its transition into Ladbrokes Coral, GVC and Entain.
He will lead Pythia’s trading operation, with responsibility for trading margins, how the racing product is presented to customers and the tools used by the trading team.
At Entain, Hutton worked with racing suppliers and rights holders including Pythia Sports, ARC, RMG, SIS, PMU and 1/ST CONTENT. His experience includes managing those relationships from the bookmaker’s side and working with suppliers to improve the racing product.
He has also recently developed AI-based trading tools and models, an interest he will bring to his new role at Pythia.
Adrien Tillier, MD and CTO at Pythia Sports, said
“We are delighted to welcome Ben to Pythia as our new Head Of Trading. Ben has spent two decades on the bookmaker side of racing. He understands the day-to-day demands of running a racing product and what operators need from the suppliers they work with.
“We're bringing that experience into Pythia to help us develop our services around those needs. Whether it's pricing, managing risk or improving the product, we want our customers to have a racing product that works for their business and their players. Our aim is excellence, nothing less, and Ben's experience will help us make those decisions with the bookmaker in mind.
“His experience of running a racing product at Entain will be particularly valuable as we work to bring Pythia’s services to leading operators.”
Ben Hutton, Head of Trading at Pythia Sports, added:
“I’m very excited to be joining Pythia Sports as Head of Trading, merging my bookmaker experience with the supplier side of the industry. A very different challenge after 20 years on one side of the fence, and one I’m really looking forward to.
“Pythia’s work in AI and racing appealed to me because it brings together my experience on the bookmaker side and my interest in developing trading tools.”
