Racecourse Media Group Appoints Nigel Railton As New Chair
Racecourse Media Group has appointed Nigel Railton as chair, with the former Camelot UK chief executive set to succeed Conor Grant from 1 October.

Nigel Railton To Take Over As Chair
Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has appointed Nigel Railton as its new chair, bringing board-level, commercial and leadership experience across media, consumer-facing and regulated industries.
Railton currently serves as chair of Post Office Ltd, a position he has held since May 2024. He is leading the organisation’s transformation programme and stakeholder rebuilding efforts and is also a trustee of The Social Mobility Foundation.
Previously, Railton served as chief executive officer of Camelot UK, the operator of The National Lottery. During his tenure, he led a business turnaround, oversaw sales growth and supported the expansion of the company’s digital operations.
Before that, he was chief executive officer of Camelot Global, where he developed the international business and secured lottery contracts in Ireland, Europe and the United States.
Earlier in his career, Railton, a qualified accountant, held senior finance, operations and strategy positions at Railtrack, Black & Decker and Daewoo Cars.
James Sanderson, RMG non-executive director, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Nigel as Chair of Racecourse Media Group. Nigel brings an outstanding blend of commercial leadership, governance experience and strategic vision, gained through a career leading some of the UK's most recognisable and highly regulated organisations.“His track record of delivering growth, embracing innovation and building strong relationships with stakeholders makes him an ideal fit for RMG and our shareholder racecourses. As we look to the future of racing media rights and fan engagement, Nigel's leadership will be a tremendous asset to the business and the sport.”
Railton To Succeed Conor Grant
Railton will take up the role on 1 October, succeeding Conor Grant, who has chaired RMG since April 2023.
Grant will remain with the organisation for a one-month handover period until 1 November.
Railton said:
“I am delighted to be appointed Chair of Racecourse Media Group. RMG is a highly respected organisation with a proven track record of delivering value for its shareholder racecourses and helping to promote the sport to audiences around the world.“The media landscape continues to evolve rapidly, creating both opportunities and challenges. I look forward to working with the Board, Nick Mills and the wider team to build on the company's success, strengthen its partnerships and support the long-term growth and sustainability of racing.”
RMG CEO Nick Mills added:
“Conor leaves RMG having made a significant and lasting contribution to the business. His guidance, support and leadership have been invaluable, and we are extremely grateful for everything he has done for the organisation and our shareholder racecourses.“At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome Nigel to RMG. I look forward to working with him as we continue to grow our audiences, strengthen our partnerships and maximise value for our racecourses.”
