Entain Exits TAB Racing Club in New Zealand to Focus on Core Betting Partnerships
The company said it will honour all existing Racing Club experiences through the conclusion of New Zealand Cup Week in Christchurch this November.

Entain Australia & New Zealand has confirmed it will exit the TAB Racing Club programme in New Zealand, signalling a renewed focus on its core betting and racing partnerships.
The company said it will honour all existing Racing Club experiences through the conclusion of New Zealand Cup Week in Christchurch this November. A formal process to sell the Club’s horses has commenced, with independent appraisal and a clear emphasis on animal welfare during the transition to new owners.
Chief Executive Andrew Vouris described the decision as a “disciplined and responsible” step to streamline operations. He emphasised that Entain’s commitment to New Zealand racing remains strong through its 25-year partnership with TAB New Zealand, which continues to provide substantial industry funding.
“This is about discipline, focus, and doing what is right for the long term – winning, but not at all costs,” Vouris said. “We will continue responsibly selling bets, innovating our products, and ensuring the Racing Club’s horses are well cared for with their new owners.”
The TAB Racing Club had grown to around 18,000 members in its first year but required NZ$2.5 million annually to operate – costs the company considered unsustainable in light of its strategic priorities.
