BetBlocker Hits 20,000 Users in Brazil as Portuguese Rollout Fuels Global Expansion
The surge follows the September 2024 launch of a Portuguese-language version of BetBlocker’s free blocking software.

UK-based safer gambling charity BetBlocker has revealed it now has over 20,000 active users in Brazil, marking a significant milestone in its international outreach efforts.
The surge follows the September 2024 launch of a Portuguese-language version of BetBlocker’s free blocking software. The move was designed to reach Brazil’s rapidly expanding online betting audience and the broader global community of over 200 million native Portuguese speakers.
BetBlocker’s Founder and Trustee, Duncan Garvie, previously emphasised the importance of localisation: “Expanding language options can increase user engagement by up to tenfold, particularly for people seeking support during moments of crisis.”
The free app enables individuals to block themselves from more than 90,000 gambling websites and 1,500 gambling apps, offering an important safeguard for those struggling with gambling addiction or seeking greater control.
As Brazil’s regulated gambling and sports betting market continues to grow, BetBlocker’s presence in the country reflects a wider appetite for robust safer gambling tools across Latin America.
The Brazilian milestone forms part of BetBlocker’s broader international expansion strategy, which recently saw the charity launch new versions of the app in Serbian, Japanese and French.
